1967 Pontiac GTO Thom Mcan

Description:

One of 22 contest cars for 1967. One of three known left. The only unrestored, original-paint example. Special-order Tiger Gold, red fender liners, WS 400 H. O., 4-speed. Won by the Barth family, St. Louis. Delivered at Chas E. Vincel Pontiac. In service November 25, 1966. Driven until 1978, then parked at 50,000 miles. Still in the family until the son-in-law took it in 2002. Window sticker, PHS, warranty plate and book, original title, dealer card, winner recall letter. GTOAA Concours Gold 2024 and 2025. Church envelope and golf cards still in the car. According to the original Window Sticker and corroborated by the PHS Data Card, this '67 Thom McAn GTO came factory equipped as follows: SPS Special Order Paint 77W 4-speed Manual Transmission WS 4bbl 400 H. O. Engine 348 Radio-Manual 382 Guards-Door Edge 454 Wheels-Rally I 471 Steering Wheel Custom Sport 474 Clock Electric 521 Disc Brakes-Front 522 Liners-Red Fender 524 Knob-Custom Gearshift 621 Springs & Shocks-Ride & Handling 631 Mats-Front Floor-Throw 632 Mats-Rear Floor-Throw 704 Tachometer-Hood Mounted 731 Differential Saf-T-Track-HD Amongst the mountains of original documentation, you will also find the original Warranty Plate and book, the original title, and a recall letter dated May 8, 1967 addressed to All GTO Winners informing them that they need their steering shaft inspected and potentially replaced. According to the original Owner Protection Plan and New Vehicle Warranty book, the car was placed into service on November 25th, 1966- the day after Thanksgiving. The warranty card notes ""to Tom Mc Cann Shoes Stores"", adding ""but Mr. Barth returned 1/7/67 had car back to Vincel's for checkup and power steering installed in May '67."" In 2002, second owner became the son-in-law of the Barths, the odometer still proudly showing 50,000 miles, a testament to the care and respect bestowed upon this remarkable touchstone of automotive history. The car was shown to the public for the first time in 45 years at the 2024 GTO Association of America Nationals where it won Concours Gold, scoring 663 points out of a possible 700. It won again in 2025, improving on its score. The car has recently been serviced and tuned-up and is turn-key road ready.
