Old Fashioned Sunday Weekend
Knoxville, TN. Saturday, August 28th & 29th.
We would like to invite you to enter our Car Show being held during our Old Fashioned Sunday Weekend on Sat. & Sun., August 28 & 29, 2010. We are holding this popular event to benefit the Knoxville Christian Center and our Children's Bus Ministry. We sweep Knoxville and bring in children by bus from neighborhoods all over the city. In June 2009, 2003 children were enrolled in our VBS. A video of our huge life changing outreach to the children and families of Knoxville can be seen on our website at www.knoxvillechristiancenter.org. In the current climate of economic distress, we are holding this event help these vital ministries continue.
Our car shows are being held both Saturday and Sunday. Your members are welcome to participate either or both days. There is a $25 entry fee that will go toward support of these ministries. I have attached Car Show Application and Guidelines and a copy of the promotional flyer. We will have Cash & Sponsor Prizes for winners and gift bags and other perks for members. Our website www.knoxvillechristiancenter.org has details and downloadable forms for the show as well.
What's happening on Old Fashioned Sunday Weekend?
Our Annual Old Fashioned Sunday Antique Car/Truck Show is one of many festivities of the Old Fashioned Sunday weekend at the Knoxville Christian Center. Activities on the church's 16-acre lawn on Cedar Bluff Road include:
Saturday – Car & Bike Show, Bluegrass & Fiddle Competitions, Live Entertainment on the Jubilee Stage, Craft Show, Antique Appraisals, Children’s Activities, Farmers Market & Auctions. Show Winners will be announced at 3:30pm on Saturday.
On Sunday morning Gospel Singing & Preaching will be followed by an old fashioned dinner of fried chicken, corn-on-the cob and many other home cooked dishes in the church's large fellowship hall. Car Show, Crafts, Period costumes, pony rides, horse drawn carriage rides and & live entertainment at the Jubilee Stage will happen throughout Sunday afternoon. Music & Car Show winners will be awarded prizes at 3:30pm.
Promotion of the Old Fashioned Sunday include newspaper, live radio remotes, web and email blasts. We are partnering with WDVX, East Tennessee's own country & bluegrass station. Freddy Smith, morning show host, will be emceeing the weekend. The Old Fashioned Sunday Weekend is located at the Knoxville Christian Center, 818 North Cedar Bluff Rd., a main exit off I-40. Over 22,000 cars pass each day. We can offer hotel rates starting as low as $49 a night for car show participants.
