1970 Ford Bronco

Description:

This build began with a whistle-clean California truck and an idea to keep it pure 1970 Bronco Wagon, only more so. It is tempting to go big, over-the-top with high backed bolstered seats, a full array of digital gauges complete with every screen and do-dad that modern cars have. Then, they top if off with a barrage of hand rubbed teak veneer strategically rendering every high-touch working surface, from doors to floor, unusable. Worse yet, the most expensive examples swap the entire frame out for something else- obliterating the factory feel and driving dynamic that make 1st generation Broncos so sought after in the first place. Replace enough, it is look, cabin confines, and driving experience then ""vintage"" Broncos remain so in name only. Really, who wants to drive a BINO? Not you, and not the seller who oversaw the comprehensive rebuild of this 1970 model to skillfully bring it up to date enough to live with every day while still retaining the soul we all fell in love with in the first place. He wanted an authentic vintage BRONCO. That is what this is, only more so.

EXTERIOR
This rust-free example sourced out of Anaheim, California is finished in Verde British Racing, green. The rebuild included all-new chrome trim and bumper assemblies. Modern LED Headlights are concealed behind classic lenses. The factory removable top is color keyed to the Land Rover Sandstone. Crisp ""302"" callouts tell anyone who is paying attention that this not a Bronco to be messed with. BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A Baja Champion LT235/75R15 rolling on Stock 15"" Steel Wheels color matched to the top, and Factory Covers.

INTERIOR
The interior was returned to ""as found in 1970"" condition, only better. Dynamat serves to isolate the cabin from unwanted undercarriage noise. Full, black, deep pile carpets and Land Rover Sandstone Leather give an upscale feel to the stock utilitarian trim. Blackface analog gauges are restored, read true, showing 455.5 miles since the rebuild. The factory issued AM Radio was rebuilt by R&B Vintage Auto Radio to accept AM/FM Stereo/Aux Input/USB port/Bluetooth Capable with Voice Command/Scan/Voice ID with 45 watts per channel, all in a stock appearing package. Door mounted speakers provide crystal clear stereo sound. The passenger side speaker is damaged and can be repaired or replaced as a condition of sale. The Tremec 5-Speed Manual Transmission and Wildhorses Dana 20 Transfer Case are shifted tastefully by black knobs with white lettering, blending into the period correct interior. Front and rear differentials are individually selectable, Low-Neutral-High. Final drive ratio is 3.50:1, just as it was from the factory. Added Air Conditioning is cleverly integrated under the dashboard. The A/C repurpose heater and manual vent knobs to give you complete climate control, hot or cold. A black center console provides a place for secure storage and a pair of cup holders, a practical consideration never pondered in 1970.

ENGINE BAY
The brawny Ford V8 is a fresh build. A chrome air cleaner covers an Edelbrock Fuel Injection, Headers, Ford Motorsport Ignition system grace and otherwise stock appearing engine assembly. A new Vintage Air Conditioning system and power brake booster for upgraded Power front Disc Brakes completes the engine bay.

CHASSIS
The engine is backed by a new Tremec 5-speed manual, Dana 44 Front Axle, and Ford 9-inch rear with 3.50:1 Final Drive Ratio. The Wildhorses Dana 20 was recently serviced and resealed. Suspension is rebuilt stock featuring Rancho shocks and a one-inch body lift. A larger, 23-gallon TIG welded stainless steel EFI fuel tank replaces the OEM issued dual units, complete with skid plate. All new brakes with Front Disc Brake conversion rounds out the undercarriage rebuild.
