Universal Muscle Cars is proud to offer! 1964 PONTIAC GTO 2-DOOR HARDTOP
We acquired this car a few months ago out of a private Pontiac collection. It is P.H.S. documented as a real 389 c.i. Tri-Power (3X2bbl.) 4-speed car that is highly optioned. It is a solid, good running & driving car that is need of a cosmetic restoration. It looks pretty good from 5 feet away but once you get up on it you can see the imperfections in the body and paint. None of it is terrible but all of it is old and stale. We bought this car with the intentions of restoring it to its original glory but.... our restoration shop is so busy we probably won't get to it until late next year so we figured we would offer it up for sale AS-IS to see if anyone wants a good project for the winter. CHECK IT OUT!!
The body is pretty solid only needing minor rust repair in the usual locations. It has had some old repairs that will also need attention, but no panels will need replacing! The doors shut good and the body panels do fit well. The floors are original and old looking but are solid as well. They are also going to need cleaning and detailing. It has had some minor frame repair at some point in its past but looks to have been well done and is solid too. Nothing here is terrible but it all needs attention! It's also going to need new chrome, trim and weather stripping too.
The blue bucket seat interior is original to the car and is in unbelievably nice condition only really needing carpets. The rest is in driver quality condition and is overall pretty nice.
The 389 c.i. Tri-Power (3x2bbl.) engine we believe, is not original to the car but looks the part and runs very well. It has an early 1965 build date but is a correct WS suffix code. We have a receipt of being rebuilt by a local and very reputable machine shop here in town. It is backed up by a smooth shifting Muncie 4-speed transmission with correct shifter and an original 10 bolt Safe-T-Track rear.
Features and options include power steering, power brakes, power windows, center console with vacuum gauge and in-dash tach and gauges, rear window defogger, flashers, remote outside mirror, rally 1 wheels with red-line radial tires, splitter exhaust tips, upgraded stereo with CD changer in trunk and more!
This original 1964 GTO is one of those projects that should not cost a ton of money to complete. It's all there and it does run and drive very well. As mentioned, no body panels need replacing! Buzz it down, repair some minor rust bubbles, block it out straight and paint it. Once completed you got a high optioned real deal, documented 1964 Tri-Power GTO that is worth a whole of money!! DON'T MISS IT !!
