1955 Volkswagen Beetle Oval Window, 1,192cc Air-Cooled 4-Cylinder, Numbers-Matching Configuration, Restored, Original Body & Chassis This 1955 Volkswagen Beetle Oval Window, affectionately known as Black Beauty, is a beautifully restored example of one of the most recognizable and collectible automobiles ever built. Finished in classic Black and accented by traditional Whitewall Tires, this Beetle has the timeless appearance that made the early Volkswagen such an icon. The unmistakable Oval Window design gives this car tremendous vintage character and makes it immediately recognizable to Volkswagen enthusiasts and collectors alike. This Beetle was originally discovered at an estate in Mississippi, where it was found in remarkably solid condition. Because the original body and chassis were so well preserved, the car did not require a body-off restoration. The restoration was completed in 2011, and importantly, the body has never been lifted from the chassis. That helps preserve an important part of the cars original structure and character while still allowing it to benefit from a quality restoration. Power comes from a 1,192cc air-cooled 4-cylinder engine, factory rated at approximately 30 horsepower. The drivetrain is represented as being in a numbers-matching configuration, adding another level of interest for the collector. The odometer currently displays approximately 927 miles, and the car is reported to have had just three owners over its lifetime. This Beetle has recently undergone a full inspection and is described as turnkey and ready to enjoy. These early Volkswagens have a charm all their own. They are simple, distinctive, fun to drive, and instantly recognizable anywhere they go.
