Few cars are as instantly recognizable as the DeLorean DMC-12. With its exposed stainless steel body, dramatic gull-wing doors, and unmistakable wedge-shaped profile, the DeLorean became one of the most memorable automotive designs of the 1980s. This 1981 example has traveled just 25,000 miles and benefits from a long-term two-owner history, service records, and its original window sticker.
Behind the passenger compartment sits a 174-cubic-inch overhead-cam V6 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel independent suspension gives the DeLorean its distinctive driving character, and an installed lowering kit provides a more purposeful stance. Power four-wheel disc brakes feature an upgraded Miata front brake setup.
The brushed stainless steel exterior needs little decoration, with those famous gull-wing doors remaining the centerpiece. Factory 15-inch cast light-alloy wheels retain the original appearance, while tinted windows complement the car's futuristic styling.
Inside, gray leather bucket seats sit beneath the angular dashboard and center console that define the DMC-12 cockpit. Power windows, power locks, power mirrors, air conditioning, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and the factory AM/FM/cassette radio provide plenty of period convenience. Engine and luggage compartment lighting add practical touches.
For enthusiasts searching for a DeLorean for sale, this low-mileage example offers more than its famous appearance.
