Two carburetors, four gears, and an open sky. This 1967 Datsun 1600 delivers the kind of straightforward sports-car formula that makes every drive an event. Silver paint pairs with a black bucket-seat interior, while Minilite wheels add a period competition look that suits this compact Japanese roadster perfectly. The driver-quality finish fits its enthusiast appeal.
Datsun introduced the 1600 version of its Fairlady roadster in 1965, helping establish Japan's sports-car credentials before the Z-car era. Its limited production adds collector interest: the Datsun roadster registry's chassis-based estimates place left-hand-drive 1600 production at approximately 31,350 across the entire 1965"1970 run, rather than for a single model year.
Under the hood, a 1.6L four-cylinder breathes through dual carburetors and pairs with a four-speed manual transmission. It's a combination that invites you to work the gears and enjoy the mechanical side of motoring. Manual steering and manual brakes keep the driver involved, with front disc brakes rounding out the package.
Inside, black bucket seats, a center console, and a console-mounted shifter put the essentials close at hand. The factory radio remains in place but is currently inoperative. With its silver finish, Minilite wheels, and engaging drivetrain, this Datsun offers plenty to appreciate for the enthusiast who enjoys vintage machinery from behind the wheel.
