1970 Chevrolet El Camino
The El Camino was first introduced in 1959 as Chevrolet needed a coupe pickup to compete with the Ranchero. Production stopped briefly in 1960 before it was reintroduced in 1964 at which time it was based on the Chevelle platform. This created a vehicle that had the look of the iconic muscle car but incorporated the utilitarian value of a pickup. It really is the best of both worlds! This 1970 El Camino is a great driving classic that has one of the most popular looking muscle car front ends of the 70s. It was purchase by the current owner in California and has resided with him for the last 8 years. It has been very well cared for and maintained. It is painted in a very nice Garnet Red metallic tri coat with Black racing stripes combined with a Black vinyl top. The paint and top is only 5 years old so it still looks very fresh. The chrome bumpers and stainless trim is all very clean and it is badged as a Super Sport. In back the bed is very usable and all rhino lined in Black. The US Mag custom wheels were installed 8 years ago as well as the Goodyear Eagle F1 (P285/40ZR18) tires.
Under the cowl induction hood is a smooth running 350 ci V8 that doesn't smoke and drives strong. It has been dressed up with finned Corvette valve covers and a chrome air cleaner. It also has an Old Air Products AC system that is brand new and blows cold with no issues. It is a modern R134 system so charging it up as needed is a breeze. The motor runs cool with a new radiator and shrouded fan. Disc brakes are in place up front with drums in rear and they are all power assisted. It has power steering as well so it is set up to be a great cruiser. The front suspension system has entirely been gone through and completely rebuilt. It has a Turbo 350 automatic transmission system that shifts smoothly and transfers power back to the 10 bolt rear end.
The interior is all Black and it has a split bench seat with added 3 point seat belts. The upholstery is all in excellent condition with no rips or tears. The dash in it is 100% brand new from the dash pad down to the glove box door. It features a lot of the original knobs/switches but combines that with a custom set of gauges and a stock looking modern AM/FM stereo. In front of the driver sits a chrome tilt steering column topped off with a 3 spoke steering wheel.
This is one cool classic that is in nice solid shape and runs great. Compare to others on the market and you will see it is being offered up at a very reasonable price!
