1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 502 Big Block 4-Speed Loaded with Upgrades
This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is a beautifully finished, serious muscle car with the looks, sound, and performance you want from a big-block Chevelle. Finished in red with black racing stripes, it has an aggressive stance complemented by the SS-style cowl-induction hood, hood pins, classic wheels, and BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The paint presents beautifully, while the chrome, trim, glass, and weatherstripping all show very well.
Under the hood is where this Chevelle really stands apart. Power comes from a built 502 cubic-inch big-block V8, based on a 1973 454 casting, with the crank internally balanced as part of the build. The engine features aluminum heads, an Edelbrock aluminum intake, Holley 850 CFM double-pumper carburetor, headers, upgraded MSD HEI ignition with new plugs and wires, and an upgraded valvetrain with adjusted roller rockers. The intake was recently resealed, the valve-cover gaskets replaced, and the header gaskets have also been replaced.
Backing the big block is a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission with a new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, fork, and related components, operated through a classic floor-mounted shifter. The combination gives this Chevelle the raw, old-school driving experience these cars are known for.
A considerable amount of mechanical work has been performed throughout the car. The front braking system has been refreshed with new calipers, rotors, bearings, hoses, and master cylinder. It is equipped with power disc brakes and power steering, along with new rear upper and lower control arms. The steering system has also been upgraded with a Flaming River tilt steering column, Flaming River steering box/quick-ratio setup, new steering universal joint, and new Flaming River steering wheel and horn kit.
Additional recent work includes a new alternator belt, attention to the air-conditioning sys
