Since September 1999, Street Dreams Texas has been bringing classic American muscle and collector cars to enthusiasts around the world. Chevrolet's Advance Design pickups have become some of the most beloved American trucks of the postwar era, thanks to their handsome proportions, unmistakable grille, and unmistakable connection to the working-class America of the 1940s and '50s. This 1950 Chevrolet 3100 takes that timeless appearance and adds the kind of mechanical upgrades that make an old truck far more enjoyable on today's roads. Under the hood is a 350 V8 paired with a 700R4 automatic transmission, giving this vintage pickup plenty of modern drivability along with traditional small-block character. Power rack-and-pinion steering and power front disc brakes bring the stopping and handling capabilities into a much more comfortable range, while the Mustang II-type front clip, Heidts tubular control arms, and adjustable front coilovers give the chassis a distinctly modern foundation. Inside, a tilt steering column, full AutoMeter instrumentation, AM/FM/CD audio system, and air conditioning make this 3100 considerably more civilized than its 1950 origins would suggest. Brand-new Yokohama tires complete the package and make this classic pickup ready for everything from local cruising to a longer Texas Hill Country drive. The beauty of a truck like this is the way it combines the unmistakable character of a vintage Chevrolet with the upgrades that today's enthusiast appreciates. It looks like a 1950 Chevrolet pickup, but underneath, it's been given the hardware to make enjoying that look considerably easier.
