The Cosmopolitan was Lincoln's flagship in the early postwar years and the Capri was its crown jewel. Introduced for 1950 as a special deluxe hardtop-style coupe the Capri set itself apart with a fabric-covered roof elegant fender skirts and super-deluxe upholstery -- touches that turned an already prestigious Lincoln into something truly exclusive. It carried a price premium over the standard Cosmopolitan coupe and it was never a big seller: the Capri and its Lido sibling were built for just two years (1950-51) and their numbers were never even broken out separately with surviving estimates topping out at only a thousand or two. That rarity is exactly what makes this car such a special find today.
