Replacing the immensely successful 328 in 1989, the Ferrari 348 was Ferrari's first all-new mid-engine V-8 road car of the modern era and the final Ferrari V-8 developed under the direction of Enzo Ferrari. Penned by Pininfarina's Leonardo Fioravanti, its dramatic styling drew clear inspiration from the Testarossa with straked doors, wide rear haunches, and a purposeful wedge profile, while a longitudinally mounted 3.4-litre quad-cam V-8 paired with a transverse five-speed gearbox gave rise to the model's "348" designation.
Initially offered as a "tb" Berlinetta and "ts" Targa, Ferrari continually refined the model throughout its production. In 1993, the lineup received significant mechanical improvements, including revised suspension geometry, updated engine management, and increased output to approximately 320 horsepower. At the same time, the tb and ts evolved into the GTB and GTS, while Ferrari introduced the 348 Spider, the company's first true open-top mid-engine V-8 sports car. Featuring a manually operated convertible top, the Spider combined the exhilaration of open-air motoring with the balanced handling and performance that defined Ferrari's V-8 lineage. The model remained in production through 1994 before giving way to the acclaimed F355. Today, the 1994 Ferrari 348 Spider is increasingly appreciated as one of the more engaging analog Ferraris of its era, celebrated for its distinctive styling, gated manual transmission, and rewarding driving experience.

A mere total of approximately 1,090 Spiders were produced of the estimated 8,800 348 Ferraris built during its seven-year production run. While the majority of 348s left the factory in Rosso Corsa or Modena, it's estimated by Ferrari experts that only five percent of production was finished in factory Blu. With various factory Ferrari shades of Blu offered, Blu Scuro equates for even less of that already-minute percentage, making it one of the most sought-after colors draped on a 348, especially in its Spider configuration.
