1970 Ford Mustang

Description:

1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 For Sale

This 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 is a factory homologation special, built by Ford to satisfy SCCA Trans-Am racing rules and go head to head with the Camaro Z/28 on the street and the track. Finished in Grabber Orange with the reflective black "hockey stick" side stripe, blacked-out hood and decklid, and BOSS 302 callouts, this car wears the second and final year of the original Boss 302's styling, penned under Larry Shinoda's direction with functional cues carried straight over from the Trans-Am program. The car presents in clean, well-kept condition both inside and out. The odometer currently reads 7,000 miles; consistent with federal odometer disclosure rules for a vehicle of this age, the mileage is exempt and cannot be warranted as actual. Power comes from the Boss 302's purpose-built small-block V8, engineered around Cleveland-style canted-valve heads for high-rpm breathing and paired from the factory with a mandatory close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission, here fitted with the correct Hurst shifter. The rear end carries 3.50 gears, a ratio suited to the engine's higher-revving nature and true to how these cars were meant to be driven. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, the standard factory setup for the model. The car rides on 15-inch styled wheels wrapped in raised-white-letter tires, a period-correct look that suits the car's stripe package and stance. The black interior is in excellent shape, giving the cabin a clean, well-preserved feel to match the exterior. Ford built the Boss 302 in relatively limited numbers for 1970, reportedly a little over 7,000 units, making it a homologation special in the truest sense: a street car built because racing rules required Ford to sell a minimum number of them to the public. That combination, a high-winding small-block, mandatory 4-speed, and race-bred chassis tuning, is what separates the Boss 302 from a standard 1970 Mustang and what keeps it firmly on the list for collectors chasing genuine late-'60s/early-'70s pony car performance.
