1998 Sea-Doo GTX & GTS For Sale w/ Trailer
This pair of 1998 Sea-Doos is offered together as a package on a 2001 Load Rite trailer, and between them they cover two very different ends of what Bombardier was building at the peak of the two-stroke era. One is the sport model, the other is the touring model, and both wear their correct factory color schemes.
The red and purple ski is the GSX Limited, one of the 1998 Sea-Doos fitted with the 951 alongside the XP Limited and GTX Limited. It runs the Rotax 947, a 951cc two-stroke twin fed by dual Mikuni BN46i carburetors, with RAVE exhaust valves, digital DC-CDI ignition, and variable-rate oil injection, rated at 130 horsepower. That was the most powerful engine in Sea-Doo's lineup at the time, and in a two-seat hull weighing roughly 530 pounds dry it was good for about 60 mph in stock form. The GSX Limited also carried the electric VTS trim system, handlebar-mounted start/stop controls, sponsons, and the LCD information center that displays speed, peak speed, water temperature, and engine hours. It was sold for only two model years, 1998 and 1999. Worth knowing for anyone new to these: the GSX Limited was not equipped with reverse.
The white and gold ski is the GTX RFI, and its story is about technology rather than output. The 1998 GTX RFI was the first fuel-injected Sea-Doo ever produced, introducing the semi-direct Rotax Fuel Injection system on the 782cc Rotax 787 twin. Power stayed at 110 horsepower, matching the carbureted version, but the injected engine ran cleaner, consumed less fuel, and removed carburetor tuning from the maintenance picture entirely. Underneath is the large GTX touring hull at 124.4 inches long, with a two-piece seat rated for three riders that genuinely fits three adults. Equipment includes manual reverse, three separate storage compartments with a watertight removable rear tray, dual mirrors, four fender cleats, docking eyelets, and a ski tow eye, which is the full touring and tow-sports package Sea-Doo offered on this platform. The white and gold scheme with woodgrain dash accents is factory.
As a package the two complement each other rather than duplicate. The GSX Limited is the one you take out alone when you want the 951 to pull, and the GTX RFI is the three-up, reverse-equipped, tow-rated machine for passengers and watersports. Both skis have received new batteries. The pair is sold as a unit with the included 2001 Load Rite trailer.
