1977 Ford Bronco

Description:

1977 Ford Bronco For Sale

This 1977 Ford Bronco comes from the final year of the first generation, the last of the short-wheelbase trucks before Ford moved the nameplate onto the full-size F-Series platform for 1978. It is finished in black over a black interior with brown leather seats, and it has been set up the way most buyers actually want an early Bronco: V8 power, an automatic, a lift, and a fresh set of 33-inch tires under it. Power comes from a 302 V8 breathing through long tube headers into a dual exhaust system, a straightforward combination that opens up the small-block's exhaust side without moving the truck away from what it is. Behind it is an automatic transmission, an option that did not reach the Bronco until 1973 and one that makes the truck considerably easier to live with in traffic and on trails alike. The axles carry 3.50 gears, which pair sensibly with the 33-inch tire: tall enough to keep highway cruising civil, short enough that the 302 still has something to work with off the line. The suspension has been lifted to clear the taller tires, and the rolling stock is brand new BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2s in 33-inch fitment, one of the more capable and widely trusted all-terrain tires available and a set with essentially all of its life ahead of it. Braking is by front discs and rear drums, matching the factory arrangement for the last two years of the generation, as Ford did not add front disc brakes to the Bronco until 1976. Inside, the black cabin is fitted with brown leather seats that present in excellent condition, giving the interior a warmer, more finished look than the utilitarian vinyl these trucks left the factory with. Early Broncos have become one of the most sought-after vintage 4x4s on the market, and lifted 302 trucks with an automatic remain the most usable version of the formula for someone who intends to actually drive the thing rather than park it.
