Description:
This 1991 Toyota MR2 is a Canadian-market Turbo example that was acquired by the current owner on BaT in January 2021. Service since that time has involved replacing the coolant temperature sensor and battery as well as overhauling the air conditioning system. Finished in black over black leather, the car is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. It rides on 14 five-spoke alloy wheels and is further equipped with removable roof panels, pop-up headlights, fog lights, a rear spoiler, and a JVC head unit.
Interior:
The sport seats were retrimmed in black leather under previous ownership. Appointments include air conditioning, carpeted floor mats, a touchscreen JVC head unit, and power windows and locks. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is worn and frames a 260-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, boost pressure, and fuel level.
Exterior:
The car is finished in Black (202), and features include removable glass roof panels, pop-up headlights, fog lights, a rear spoiler, dual side air intakes, and dual exhaust outlets. Silver-finished 14 five-spoke alloy wheels are wrapped in 195/60 front and 205/60 rear Federal Super Steel tires that need to be replaced. The car features manual steering and a four-wheel independent MacPherson strut suspension.
Drivetrain:
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. The mid-mounted turbocharged 2.0L 3S-GTE inline-four produced 200 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque when new.
