While the newest Ford F-150 may have a twin-turbo hybrid powertrain, and as cool as it can be having the latest and greatest may be, sometimes it's far more fun to have something older and a bit more special. This brings us to this 1955 Ford F-1 Restomod we have for you today. Decked out in this sleek, deep Black Metallic, this truck sports shaved mirrors, door handles, and drip rails. A chrome front grille, front and rear roll pans, and a trick forward-tilting hood are all like automotive Easter eggs to find, bringing smiles every time. Its top is chopped four inches in front and three inches in the rear, and the louvered tailgate gives this truck an unmistakable look from any angle.
Inside, we find a custom black vinyl interior with a custom bench seat and matching door panels. A factory black-painted dashboard features a six-pod of trick Dolphin black-faced gauges nestled inside a chrome bezel. A power-assisted, black-rimmed billet steering wheel mounted on an iDidit tilt column actuates a Heidts rack-and-pinion setup. Power windows and door poppers, along with a Pioneer AM/FM/CD head unit and Vintage Air AC operated with cool billet knobs, provide plenty of modern amenities for those longer road trips.
Under the hood, gone is the aged Flathead V-8 of yesteryear. In its place, we find a rebuilt Crown Victoria donated 4.6-liter V-8 engine. With electronic fuel injection, shorty headers, and a FlowMaster dual exhaust, this truck sounds like a truck should. That power is routed through an AOD four-speed automatic transmission, shifted by a Lokar floor shifter inside the cabin, then sent to a Ford nine-inch rear outfitted with 3.73 gears, and finally to polished American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels shod in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
