1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE. Truly a 1 of 1 car with a fascinating and incredible history, binders full of documentation, and very highly optioned to boot! This is one spectacular unicorn! According to documents and the original window sticker, this car was sold new at Studio Dodge in North Hollywood California. The first owner was Mr. John Check. To prevent it being lost in a divorce, he changed the roof and stripes in an attempt to convince his wife it was a different car, but she didnt take the bait. They ended up divorced and it ended up on a used car lot and sold to Stephen B Ross " Jay Lenos Producer for The Tonight show and Jay Lenos Garage. The car spent time with Jays crew getting tune ups and work done to it. Eventually it was traded for an Amphicar by Stephen, and that Amphicar was sold to Jay. Afterwords, it passed hands to a few more collectors, one of which was found guilty of fraud and the Challenger and 25 other cars from his car collection ended up at Barrett Jackson auction. From there it was purchased and brought to Alberta Canada. Its had a few more owners since, but fortunately one of the more recent ones spent the time researching and confirming the cars unique history! All of the written history comes with the car explaining the entire history in detail! Also included are not one, but two factory broadcast sheets, the owners manual, and every other document including all of the Barret Jackson Auction paperwork, import paperwork, US titles, appraisals throughout the years and loads of vintage pictures spanning back for decades. Some of them even are shot at Jay Lenos garage. Everything is catalogued in a binder and photo box " its extraordinary! The car was also registered with the Galen Govier Registry which proves its a 1 of 1 car and also completely explains every option and factory piece of equipment. At some point the car went through a rotisserie restoration, and everything was restored back to exact factory specs apart from the wheels. This is a very highly optioned car, but it left the factory with stamped black steel 14 wheels and wire wheel covers. Those have been upgraded to year correct 15 rallyes with Firestone Wide O white letter belted radials. The List of features and options is extensive. Its a true RT/SE with the factory numbers matching 383 4-bbl V8 and optional 4-speed manual transmission and power steering. Its one of 6 painted in FF4 light green metallic and has the optional V1F vinyl green top. The SE pack included the vinyl top, formal rear window with small glass, unique bright trim around the beltline of the car, and an aluminum trim panel around the taillights along with the high-grade cloth and vinyl bucket seats with houndstooth black and white fabric, upgraded door panels with carpet trim and an overhead console with extra warning lights. A light package was ordered with the car along with the radio group, rallye instrument cluster, deluxe restraint system and woodgrain console with pistol grip floor shifter. A chrome LH door mirror was ordered as well as hood pins, drip rail mouldings, body belt mouldings, dual exhaust with chrome tips, tachometer performance hood tape treatment and longitudinal black stripes. The car still has the compact spare in the trunk with the tire inflator, jack and tire iron. The interior is very nice and shows no wear, and under the hood is neat and tidy. Theres paint protection film on the lower quarter of the car, the entire way around. The car shows 9.9 out of 10 and should be considered by any serious Mopar collector. It really doesnt get much better than this! The car also has 79,000 miles on the odometer, and thanks to extensive paperwork it can be said with confidence that thats the correct and original milage despite only having a 5-digit odometer. Display sign boards are also included with the car.
