1966 Chrysler 300 2-dr Hardtop. Sold new by Lawson Oates Chrysler in Vancouver BC (dissolved in 2003) and a Canadian built car at the Windsor Ontario plant! Unique model to Canada and essentially was a Chrysler Windsor (Canadian version of Newport) with a unique 300 front clip. The name might be the same, but this is a distinct car from the American 300. Although difficult to decipher, thanks to the fender tag we know that this 300 sports a 383 4bbl (AB62) backed by a 3-speed automatic (C5) and information passed down from previous owners claim the 40,000 miles on the odometer is original milage, having never rolled over. We cant prove that of course, but thats the claim. The car was equipped with power brakes (H1), power windows (K8), an Am radio (R1), rear seat speaker (f6), fender mounted turn signals (h7), left hand remote outside mirror (p6), the upper door frames were painted dark blue (e8) and it was built on October 11 th 1965 for the 66 model year. It also came with Canadian exclusive premium grade vinyl bench seat in medium blue (M2D) and has been repainted in its correct Regal Dark Blue Metallic (EE1) paint. 00 in the build sequence code also suggests it was in fact built in Canada. This is one incredible car that is truly stunning to look at in person. The paint is very nice with an incredible reflection and the trim and brightwork is all in excellent condition. The front and rear bumpers must have been re-chromed in the restoration process as they are flawless. The underside of the car is impeccable and now the interior is just as impressive. The car came to our dealership having the exterior and mechanicals redone, but with an original interior that unfortunately became the home to mice. The entire interior and trunk of the car were stripped, everything was sanitized and all bare metal was coated in POR 15 to perfectly preserve the car. Meanwhile, correct vinyl and cloth were ordered from SMS auto fabrics in the USA, brought in and professionally sewn using the previous seat covers as a pattern. A new headliner, carpets and the new seats were all re-installed along with anything else that needed replacement during the process. The results are stunning and this 66 Chrysler is probably the only one around that has new car smell! Everything on the car is believed to be in working order (not sure about the radio). New single exhaust was professionally installed in 2024 and recent tune up work has been completed. The only modification obvious to us is the addition of power steering. Its not called for on the fender tag, but it may have been standard on a car of this caliber to begin with " sources are unclear. Rear blower-type defrost on the back window is also in place. Its again unclear if that was standard equipment or added after during the restoration. Under the hood, its very neat and tidy, and the trunk is now flawless. Were just waiting for a trunk mat to arrive, before we reinstall the spare tire, jack and tire iron back into the car. A perfect cruiser car, sure to provide endless hours of relaxing summer time driving, and guaranteed to turn heads at any car show!
