With its combination of timelessly rugged aesthetics and modern-day mechanical components, this 1948 Willys Jeepster offers the best of two worlds. Its deep maroon paint shows a nice shine, and is ornamented with clean, unblemished chrome trim and a set of Coker whitewall tires on full display, this rarely seen classic looks every inch the vintage ride it truly is. Yet it also features an array of upgrades that thoroughly enhance its drivability, making for a smile-inducing experience behind the wheel. There were fewer than 20,000 of these Jeepsters made to begin with, and the vast majority of those have long since fallen by the wayside, so the rarity of this post-WWII gem is beyond question.
All the signs are there that the black vinyl interior has been carefully looked after over the years. Retaining their convincingly original appearance, both the split-bench front seat and rear bench seat are in fine shape, showing only the slightest of wear, and the carpeting below them is in matching condition. Up front, the dash area includes a woodgrain instrument cluster carrying an assembly of functional gauges, along with a Pioneer AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth connectivity to offer you an array of audio options. Air conditioning makes for comfortable driving throughout the year, and when you do need shelter from the elements, the accompanying white vinyl top is in great shape and even includes side curtains for additional protection.
This Willys classic has seen light usage over the years, performing almost entirely as a parade car, but rest assured it's very much configured for real world driving. It's powered by a 350-cubic-inch V8 that's fed by an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor perched on top of a polished intake manifold and sits in a well-sorted engine bay, surrounded by a nice selection of chrome components for additional eye-candy. Accompanied by a 3-speed automatic TH400 transmission, the engine is in good running condition, idling smoothly and pulling with plenty of strength. A modified independent front suspension provides a more refined ride than you normally find in a car from this era, and it adds power front disc brakes for increased stopping ability. Smooth power steering makes for easy navigation.
