1969 Cadillac Deville Convertible

Description:

1969 Cadillac DeVille Convertible. Large and in charge! Everything about this car screams opulence and luxury. Beautiful silver paint and the chrome, stainless and trim are all top notch! Painting a car this large take a lot of paint. Absolutely stunning restoration, especially when you open the hood. The 472 V8 with 4-barrel carb is absolutely gleaming in dark Cadillac blue, and everything from the fenders to the firewall looks even better than factory fresh. This is all thanks to a $4000 engine rebuild in 2019 that included gaskets, rear main seal, new frost plus, new pistons, rods, rings, rod bearings, main bearings, timing set, comp cam and comp cam lifters, oil pump and everything else required to get it back to perfection. Valves were ground and new guides installed. Heads resurfaced as well. The TH-400 3-speed automatic behind it is rebuilt too. New dual exhaust has it sounding just as it should. Theres an aluminum rad to keep things cool Contrary to the styling of other manufacturers in 69, Cadillac had already removed a lot of chrome from its designs, and this sleek Caddy is certainly slab sided, but not too garnished. The front end of the car is dramatically V-shaped with front fender edges leading the way. The peaked front fenders sweep back along the sides of the car and gradually fall towards the rear bumper. Just behind the front doors, are the leading edges of the rear fenders that taper out towards towering tail fins with signature vertical Cadillac taillights and a handsome tucked in chrome bumper. It appears a power antenna has been frenched into the passenger rear tail fin on this car. Quad headlights out front with signal activated cornering lamps on both front corners. This one still wears its side skirts, but wheels have been updated to something more modern. The power operated black cloth top looks to be brand new and has a glass rear window. Being a 69, this was also the first year for solid side windows (no vent windows) and a lockable steering wheel, as the key moved from the dashboard to the steering column. The interior of the car was certainly ahead of its time in design for the era. Gauges are simple with a sweeping speedometer and fuel gauge, everything else was dummy lights which was considered to me more luxurious at the time. Cadillacs and Buicks were considerably better built and more reliable than their pedestrian counterparts from Chevrolet or Pontiac, so it was thought that warning lights were all that was required on a car that in theory should never have problems. Thanks goodness in this one, a set of aftermarket gauges have been added under the dash along with a modern stereo. This one has a few nice options including power windows, auto dimming high beams, tilt steering wheel, delay wipers and AM/FM radio. The upholstery is the original ALL LEATHER and is in excellent condition for its age. The dashboard is crack free and theres a lighter and ash tray for each and every passenger! No A/C in this one because of the convertible top. Car shows 11,000 miles which is likely 111,000 miles, but with an engine rebuild and restoration, true milage is unknown.
