1964 Cadillac Sedan Deville

Description:

Handsome full-sized 60s luxury cruiser. Lots of recent work including tires, exhaust, shocks, tune-up, and much more. Beautiful interior with room for six. Nicely finished throughout. A whole lot of Cadillac for not a lot of cash!

Right now, 1961-64 Cadillacs represent something of a bargain. Styling was revised from the outrageous 1959-60 models, but they still have fins and chrome and theres no doubt youre looking at a top-of-the-line Cadillac. The styling has aged rather well, and theres just no way not to look like a million bucks when arriving in a car like this 1964 Cadillac Sedan Deville. This particular car was repainted perhaps 20 years ago in something close to the original code 24 Sprue Blue, but with a bit more metallic in the finish so it sparkles in the sunlight. There are a few signs of use and age, a small dent above the right headlight cluster and a little bit of bubbling behind the left rear door, but nothing that really stands out and detracts from the cars overall sleek look. The bodywork is quite straight, so someone did a good job finishing it, and all four doors close with a very solid THUNK, as youd hope from a Cadillac. Of note, the big chrome bumper pontoons under the parking lights arent rotted out (in fact, all the chrome is quite nice), and the taillights are outfitted with LEDs so theyre brighter than the original bulbs. This car looks like it should be on the strip in Vegas with Sinatra behind the wheel.

The blue interior is simply spectacular. Someone must have spent a fortune restoring it, because it uses original patterns to give a true 1964 vibe the moment you open the door. Wide bench seats feature armrests, so four passengers travel like kings and six can fit in a pinch. Plush carpets, ornate door panels, and that slick two-spoke steering wheel are all about quiet luxury. The chrome-laden dash speaks softly of mid-century modern design (no faux woodgrain here!) and all the instruments are operational. The power windows zip up and down, the AM/FM radio works properly (including the power antenna), and the interior courtesy lights are all LEDs. Of note, the A/C system has been partially removed (all the components are included with the car) and the power seat clicks but does not move, but everything else works like it should. The back seat features spacious stretch-out room only found in limousines today, and the headliner is beautifully finished. In back, theres a positively massive trunk thats nicely detailed with correct cardboard bulkheads and mats, plus a full-sized spare and jack assembly.

For 1964, the Cadillacs engine was enlarged to 429 cubic inches and made a stout 340 horsepower and 480 ft-lbs. of torque-enough to make even the biggest sedans feel light on their feet. This one has been recently serviced, including a complete valve job on the heads, and runs nicely. Theres big engine torque available at any RPM, and it cruises easily at modern highway speeds. Its easy to start and once it warms up, its happy to cruise as fast or as slow as youd like. The engine bay is nicely detailed with Cadillac Blue engine enamel on the block and tinwork, that big air cleaner up top, and lots of new equipment, including belts and hoses, a full tune-up, a dual reservoir master cylinder, and more. Also new for 1964 with the TH400 3-speed automatic, which is arguably the best automatic transmission ever created. Its the perfect complement to the Devilles muscular 429 and always seems to find the right gear for effortless motoring. 2.94 gears in the rear end certainly help with the Cadillacs low-key demeanor, and if you want a car for road trips, there arent many better than this. The undercarriage is original but solid-no rot in the floors or rockers, but there is surface scale on the heavy metal parts. Theres a brand new exhaust system that gives it an appropriately hushed tone, new shocks at all four corners, and some new brake components for the power 4-wheel drums. Factory wheels and hubcaps provide just the right look and it carries an expensive set of new 235/75/15 Diamondback Auburn radials with the correct twin stripe whitewalls.

Documentation includes original owners manual, warranty booklet, and a stack of recent service receipts.

This big Cadillac still cuts a wide swath through traffic. Showing up in this car is an event, and from behind the wheel, its easy to see why the big rollers always chose Cadillacs. Luxurious, powerful, comfortable, and quite good looking, this Cadillac delivers on the legend. Call today!
