1960 Nash Metropolitan

Description:

1960 NASH METROPOLITAN COUPE C-1003 This 1960 Metropolitan coupe is like none other you have ever seen. Produced in December 1959 and is finished in white over red exterior and aftermarket interior bucket seats covering of black and red. Power is provided by a 1500cc high compression inline four cylinder paired to a 3 speed manual transmission. Extensive custom touches include a full array of aftermarket gauges fitted into a fabricated aluminum panel and speedometer bezel. The aluminum continues on the door panels and sill plate covering. Mounted under the dash is a remote-controlled stereo unit with FM/USB/SD/MMCMP3/WMA paired with rear speakers. Custom monogrammed floor mats and cup holders dress the interior. The trunk is finished matching the interior. The car is fitted with a continental kit trimmed in chrome. All chrome, exterior and interior finishes and all glass are excellent. Proudly maintained by the previous owner, the Metropolitan is offered with a clean California title. The Nash Metropolitan is an American automobile assembled in England and marketed from 1953 until 1962. It conforms to two classes of vehicle: economy car and subcompact car. The Metropolitan is considered a subcompact, but this category was not yet in use when the car was made. At that time, it was categorized as a small automobile as well as an economy car. The Metropolitan was a car that appealed to an eclectic mix of Americans because it was economical, yet a joy to drive, and it has been described as pure automotive whimsy. It also swam against nearly every current of American car design. Production ceased in April 1961 (final VIN " E95981, built 19 April 1961). Sales of the existing inventory continued until March 1962. Approximately 95,000 Metropolitans were sold in the United States and Canada, making it one of the top-selling cars to be imported into those countries at the time, and its sales in 1959 helped to spur the introduction of the Big Three (General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler) new compact models. *If you are viewing this on Facebook, be sure to visit our website to view all photos.
