1956 Ford Thunderbird

Description:

What a gorgeous bird! This car underwent an $80,000 restoration in the late 90s. $9,000 was spent recently servicing and upgrading the car. We have binders of documentation. We also have the original invoice! It is upgraded to make it a more reliable and comfortable driver. Some upgrades include air conditioning, disc brakes and seatbelts. I drove this one and was very impressed, it functioned effortlessly.

EXTERIOR: The body is excellent. No rust or damage, the panels fit square and flush. Painted fender skirts are included. The paint is smooth and glossy. There are a few flaws but it is gorgeous. We have the paint formula if touch up was ever needed. The port hole removable hardtop was completely restored. The paint, rubber, chrome and headliner were redone. It looks great in a contrasting white. The chrome and trim sparkles, it was all replaced during restoration. Windshield was replaced, I love the wing windows. The tires and wheels really make this car a knockout! Coker American Classic radial white walls on chrome wire wheels with red spinners. It's even a chrome wire wheel in the continental kit.

INTERIOR: Just as pretty inside! 2 tone red and white and it's restored like new. Red carpet on the floor with embroidered mats. The seat was recushioned and upholstered. Door and kick panels were replaced. The dash area was completely restored: reupholstered dash, knobs, lenses, chrome trim, heater controls etc. Tachometer, clock, interior light all work. Steering column is restored. The air conditioning unit and 2 gauges are neatly installed below the dash. It has seatbelts, a retro stereo and power seat.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Rebuilt 312 motor, upgraded Holley 4 barrel carb and electric fuel pump. Dressed up with finned aluminum valve covers. Upgraded 4 core radiator with engine fan and extra electric fan. PerTronix ignition upgrade. Power steering and power brakes with upgraded dual reservoir. It is detailed to show quality. Everything looks properly installed, metal surfaces are painted smoothly. First year for a 12 volt system.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Pristine metal and it's all painted gloss red. It has an insulated pad under the liner kit. A usable spare tire was installed so you will never have to mess with the continental kit.

UNDERSIDE: It is restored to better than new underneath. All of the steering and suspension was completely rebuilt or replaced including the power steering control valve. Upgraded with Koni gas shocks and it's also upgraded with sway bars front and back. Custom dual exhaust system has Magnaflow mufflers. The fuel system was completely replaced and has an electric fuel pump for easier starting. Wilwood front disc brake upgrade, e-brake is hooked up. There is zero rust underneath this car, the floors are pristine metal. They are all painted a smooth gloss black. All the components look fresh, it's detailed under this car. Looking up at the motor it is spotless, even the bolts on the oil pan. Starter looks fresh. Rebuilt 3-speed manual trans. Drive shaft and rear end were rebuilt.

This is the one. I'm telling you I've been doing this a long time; this car is special. It has looks to kill and it functions better than it did in 1956. You will feel special, proud and excited to drive this car!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.
