1968 Chrysler Imperial Convertible It's as Rare as is Beautiful! Only 474 built as the last of the true Imperials. Out of private collection as a volume acquisition by our store we came into three Imperials; Two 4-Door Sedans and this unique Convertible. 61k Low Miles and a Solid piece of Automotive History. Limited Production and surely based on color and equipment an even more unique production configuration. Once at our facility, we went through the vitals and got it starting, running, and driving as it should. Power Top, Windows, Steering, Brakes, all work. We replaced all 4 tires as if you plan on driving it, you should do it sure footed and not on squared off from sitting radials. Climate panel controls are not working as is a common fail component from non use on vehicles of this claiber and vintage. This Imperail has been parked since 1983; That was a whopping 40 years ago and that's not in dog years... The Imperial looks great, of course, not perfect but a very respectable ride with few flaws like marks on interior from casual usage and a few missing small pieces of seat trim. A very good cruiser that will get you there in style and plenty of awe'd onlookers.Like Lincolns Continental brand, there was a time when Imperial was separate from Chrysler, representing the top-of-the-line in luxury and exclusivity. With the goal being a car that was a match for the worlds finest, Chryslers Imperials were standard-bearers for Mopar enthusiasts and buyers who appreciated a little verve from their luxury machines. But by the late 1960s, the writing was on the wall for bespoke full-sized luxury cruisers, and in 1969, the Imperial became simply an option package rather than a unique model. The end of an era for Chryslers finest luxury cars. As a result of all this, however, the 1968 Imperials seem to hold a special place in collectors hearts and with just 474 being built in that final year, the Imperial Crown convertible is a very special car indeed.
