1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible

Description:

This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible is an absolutely gorgeous, well-optioned Tri-Five convertible. What started in 1955 as a futuristic redesign of Chevrolet's passenger car line, the Tri-Five Chevys are among the most recognizable, iconic, and thus desirable vehicles of the 1950s. It would seem with regards to the Tri-Five era that Chevrolet would save the best for last with the 1957 Bel Air Convertible. From head to toe, the 1957 Chevrolets saw substantial updates both stylistically and mechanically. At the nose, the new-look Chevys sported flatter hoods with dual wind splits appointed with a gold anodized "V" emblem out front along with a completely redesigned grille and bumper. The side profile of the 1957 Chevrolets featured perhaps the most noticeable and iconic upgrade from the previous years' models with the addition of a set of large fins protruding from the rear quarter panels giving the the cars their iconic silhouette. With the iconic change to the rear quarters, the taillight design also saw a facelift in 1957, now a bit more refined. On the inside of the '57 Bel Air, the interior design was also updated adding to the Bel Air's mantra of being the plushest and most luxurious vehicle of all in Chevrolet's 1957 passenger car lineup. In addition to the elevated interiors on the Bel Airs, they were further differentiated from the entry-level 150 and intermediate-level 210 models by additional gold anodized trim such as gold "Bel Air" script on the trunks and gold "V" on the hoods. The other major upgrade in 1957 was the introduction of the 283 V8 engine which offered 18 additional cubic inches of displacement from the previous year's 265 V8. Under the hood on this particular '57 Chevy is 283 Cubic Inch V8 engine fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor that together were said to have created 220 horsepower when new. The 283 "Power Pack" V8 is backed by a Powerglide Automatic transmission, which makes this 1957 Bel Air easy for anybody to drive. Exhaust exits the 283 powerplant via a dual exhaust setup that gives this '57 Chevy a nice throaty sound out the dual tailpipes. This 1957 Bel Air is outfitted with several fantastic options! With power brakes, bringing this 1957 Chevrolet to complete stop is much easier, especially with all of that horsepower under the hood. Power steering is also a great option on this Bel Air since it greatly improves the overall driving experience and makes maneuvering this convertible in and out of tight spaces a total breeze. Further adding to the maneuverability of this 1957 Chevy is the addition of dual outside chrome mirrors. The black vinyl power convertible top goes up and down with the simple push or pull of a button mounted under the dash, and when the top is down, it tucks neatly under the red vinyl boot cover. Riding on a set of wide whitewall radial tires paired with Spinner-style full wheelcovers, this '57 Chevrolet Bel Air has a great look and even better ride. The chrome and brightwork around the exterior of this Bel Air is in fantastic shape and give the car an excellent look. The exterior of this Tri-Five Chevy has been correctly refinished in a beautiful Inca Silver paint that completes the exterior look of this convertible. The interior is absolutely stunning! The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in red and silver two-tone vinyl, just how this car came back in 1957. The matching door panels, red carpeting, red padded dash, and red steering wheel are all in wonderful condition as well and appear to be in their stock configuration. The instrument cluster is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge, and a clock, locking glovebox, and Wonderbar AM radio are integrated into the remainder of the dash. Whether you're buying your first classic car or you're adding to your existing collection of classics, this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible would make an excellent choice.
