Updated Jeep Compass Debuts in China, Likely Points to U.S. Changes

Jeeps taken the wraps off of a refreshed Compass in China, and we suspect the updates shown on the off-road-oriented brands small crossover will find their way to the U.S.-spec model for the 2022 or 2023 model year. Changes to the exterior of the Compass appear minor, with a new front fascia, reworked grille, and mildly revised headlight bezels replete with LED lighting, adding a hint of additional aggression to the Jeeps mug. More significant updates appear within the crossovers cabin. A revised dashboard emphasizes the interiors width and welcomes a massive infotainment screen and digital gauge cluster, one of which measures in at 10.3 inches and the other at 10.1we presume both are optionally available and a smaller infotainment screen and analog gauges are standard kit. As in other recent Fiat Chrysler Automobile products, expect the updated Compass to bring the companys latest Uconnect 5 infotainment system into its cabin. --> Underhood, the China-market Compass comes with an available turbocharged 1.3-liter engine, likely the same 177-hp unit found under the hood of the subcompact Jeep Renegade . We guess the engine will find its way to the updated Compass that Jeep ships to our shores, where it will complement the naturally aspirated 180-hp 2.4-liter four-pot that powers the 2021 model . We reached out to Jeep to find out if Chinas revised Compass previews forthcoming changes to our model, but we're told by a brand representative that the brand could not comment on future products. Nevertheless, we wager these updates will eventually make their way to our Compass in the next year or two.
