For many enthusiasts, the second-generation, aka mid-year (1963-1967) Corvettes are the best. And of those, the 1967 is the top pick thanks to its refinement and several one-year-only features such as the multi-louvered front fenders, the center-mounted back-up light and the console-mounted parking/hand brake. Arguably (or not) the ultimate is a 67 roadster with the Tri-Power 427 V8 rated at 435 horses, hooked up to a 4-speed stick. We have just such a car here in this gorgeous 1967 427/435 roadster and this big block bruiser has it all -- looks, personality and condition. The recipient of a no-expense-spared restoration that must be seen, this gorgeous C2 is stunning in gleaming Goodwood Green with a white stinger, white soft top and green interior. The car also boasts nice even panel gaps and brilliant chrome/stainless-steel trim. The correct Rally wheels are fitted with period-correct redline tires for that perfect finishing touch. Underneath, the car is extremely clean and rock-solid, as one would expect of a meticulously restored, NCRS Top Flight award-winning Corvette. In fact, it earns our Lasagna Car designation, meaning the underside is so clean that we'd eat our Sunday pasta off of it. Swing open the door and you'll think you stepped back in time to 1967, as the fully restored interior looks and feels new. The beautiful Green upholstery complements the exterior color perfectly. In addition to the L71 427 V8, other options include the F41 performance suspension, M21 4-speed gearbox, Positraction rear end, transistor ignition, auxiliary hardtop, tinted glass and AM/FM radio. Note that this is a two-top car, as it comes with the color-matched hard top as well as the white soft top. Under the hood is that muscle-bound 427 cubic-inch, 435 horsepower V8 that had a few minor internal upgrades made during its rebuild (including a custom camshaft) that resulted in an impressive 591 horsepower and 603 pound-feet of torque. That thrilling powerhouse is matched to the original 4-speed manual transmission and 3.70-geared Positraction rear end. If you like documentation with your gorgeous, correct big-block midyear Corvette, then you'll love this one. In addition to the NCRS Top-Flight award, there are two large 3-ring binders, one chock full of restoration photographs and the other including engine rebuild specs, previous owner information and NCRS judging sheets. There is also a folder full of receipts as well as a bound photo album. Out on the road, that well-sorted powertrain starts, runs and shifts incredibly well. Theres nothing quite like the roar of a 427 inhaling through triple two-barrels and exhaling through factory-correct side pipes while you run through the gears of the 4-speed. The rebuilt suspension and brakes further add to the great joy of piloting this 427 'vette.
